Moving onto the body of the bass, we've got a mahogany body with a flame maple top. The mahogany is going to provide lots of punch and tightness in the midrange to complement the neck-through panga panga wood which also has very punchy low-mids. All of these wonderful tonewoods are rounded out with some absolutely killer Nordstrand Big Single pickups.

They give you a jazz bass on steroids kind of sound with a lot of crisp clarlity in the top end and tight and growly bass response. Excellent for slap or for dialing in a more aggressive sound that really cuts through a mix. These really are beefy and powerful while still retaining single-coil characteristics. Combined with the Ibanez custom 3-band EQ, this bass definitely leans towards modern and hi-fi tones.

You can still flip it into passive mode and get some nice vintage tones out of it as well, but where it really excels is when you want a bass tone that will stay nice and defined in a mix. This is a great bass for the player that wants to do more than just sit in the background and play some muddled low notes.
